ANNAPOLIS, MD (December 23, 2003) – The Department of General Services (DGS) Police in coordination with the Annapolis City Police Department, the Annapolis City Fire Marshall, the Anne Arundel Fire Department, and the Maryland State Police participated in an emergency response planning meeting this morning. The meeting was intended to discuss coordination of efforts between agencies should certain emergency situations require an interagency response.
“Today’s meeting is just an example of the continuing effort by the Ehrlich Administration to improve inter-jurisdictional communications and fine tune a coordinated response strategy,” said Boyd K. Rutherford, Secretary of the Department of General Services. “Should such an emergency ever occur, a well thought out action plan will save lives and even prevent excessive damage to State facilities.”
As part of a continuing effort to safeguard State facilities, DGS is coordinating with Annapolis area law enforcement agencies to discuss and review responses to emergencies at the Annapolis complex and in the surrounding area. It is expected that these coordination efforts will lead to joint exercises in the near future.
