BALTIMORE
(August 3, 2004) – Maryland Department of General
Services (DGS) Secretary Boyd K. Rutherford today announced the
appointment of Ignacio A. Macias as Special Assistant to the Assistant
Secretary for Procurement and Logistics. In that role, he will
oversee the Department’s Small Business and Minority Business
Enterprise (MBE) programs, in addition to select Department-wide
projects. Mr. Macias comes to DGS from GMAC Financial Services
where he was Vice President of Emerging Markets.
“Ignacio Macias brings significant experience to the DGS Minority
Business Enterprise program,” said Secretary Rutherford. “His
mission is to build a more aggressive program to maximize State business
with small and minority firms. Additionally, he will work toward
having more MBEs as prime vendors or contractors on State projects.”
A resident of Columbia, Howard County, Mr. Macias was with GMAC
for six years developing business relationships and opportunities
for Hispanic and African American consumers. Mr. Macias has also
held managerial positions with Citibank, and the Federal Home Loan
Mortgage Corp.
He received his BS in business and finance at Mount Saint Mary’s
College in Emmitsburg, Maryland and participated in the MBA program
at George Washington University in Washington, D. C. He is a board
member of Casa de Maryland, Center of Employment and Training.
