Former GMAC Official Named Special Assistant in Procurement and Logistics Division

BALTIMORE (August 3, 2004) – Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) Secretary Boyd K. Rutherford today announced the appointment of Ignacio A. Macias as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Procurement and Logistics. In that role, he will oversee the Department’s Small Business and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) programs, in addition to select Department-wide projects. Mr. Macias comes to DGS from GMAC Financial Services where he was Vice President of Emerging Markets.

“Ignacio Macias brings significant experience to the DGS Minority Business Enterprise program,” said Secretary Rutherford. “His mission is to build a more aggressive program to maximize State business with small and minority firms. Additionally, he will work toward having more MBEs as prime vendors or contractors on State projects.”

A resident of Columbia, Howard County, Mr. Macias was with GMAC for six years developing business relationships and opportunities for Hispanic and African American consumers. Mr. Macias has also held managerial positions with Citibank, and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp.

He received his BS in business and finance at Mount Saint Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland and participated in the MBA program at George Washington University in Washington, D. C. He is a board member of Casa de Maryland, Center of Employment and Training.
